Megève's Young Skiers Compete In Ski Slalom April 9-10

Megève hosts the 25th annual Ski d'Or competition, specially created for teenagers over 13 who have qualified for the chamois d'argent in the French ski school. The competition will be held April 9-10.

More than 600 youngsters from around Europe will compete in the event to bring honour to their own ski school. The competition is divided into four categories: minimes (born between 1996 and 1997); cadettes, juniors, and seniors born in or before 1995 for girls; cadets boys must be born between 1994 and 1995; and junior and senior boys should be born before 1993. The event  takes place over two days and includes two rounds of slalom ski and an parallel slalom finale.

The programme starts at 8:30 a.m. with the first and second rounds of slalom. The finale takes place Sunday, April 10 at 10:30 a.m. and prizes will be distributed afterwards.

Although the event is dedicated to young competitors, Megève gets the parents in on the act too. The Parents' Ski d'Or lets mom and dad take part in some friendly competition among themselves on a giant slalom. The Parents' Ski d'Or will be held at 12:30 p.m. Satuday, April 9.
