Chestnut Mountain Is Host To Annual Slush Cup March 13

Illinois' Chestnut Mountain, one of the lower Midwest's largest ski resorts, will be hosting its eighth annual Slush Cup Sunday, March 13.

Event registration takes place at 11 a.m., and the competition starts at noon. There are two events; the three people Team Survival and the Last Man or Women Standing. Prizes will be awarded for both events, and all you need to enter is a lift ticket; Speedos are optional. It's a great spectator event.

Chestnut has a couple of weekend lift and lodging packages available all winter long. The No Frills, Just Thrills Package, good for Friday and Saturday night lodging, starts from $115 per person, per night based on double occupancy. It includes a two-day lift ticket. The all-inclusive Weekend Ski Package starts from $335 per person, based on double occupancy. It includes two nights lodging, two two-day lift tickets, breakfast and lunch both days, and dinner Saturday night.

Through the end of the season don't forget Fantastic Fridays when all lift tickets are $25 from 4 p.m. to close. There's also Two-fer Tuesday when you get two lift tickets for the price of one, and the $45 Wednesday Great Escape Special which gets you an all-day lift ticket, lunch and a cocktail.

The views of the Mississippi River from the 500-foot bluff where the hotel sits are incredible. It's one of the most unusual and scenic ski resorts found in the Heartland. Get out and enjoy some of the last runs of the season. Chestnut typically closes after the third weekend of March.
