The Swiss Snow Walk & Run takes place in Engelberg Feb. 19. The event is open to everyone - showshoers, Nordic walkers, and runners - and there are prepared rails to suit each discipline.
The competition is routed along cross country ski trails and participants have a choice between the half-marathon (21 kilometres) or going for the short distance stretch (6.5 kilometres).
The event programme kicks off Friday, Feb. 18 with a free Nordic walking trail at 1p.m., a health and fitness forum at 2:30 to 5:30 p.m.; and a snowshoeing evening at 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
The main event takes place Feb. 19. The day starts at 9 a.m. with the opening of the Sponsor Village and a warm-up at 9:50 a.m. The Swiss Snow Walk & Run begins at 10:15 a.m. and is followed by an afternoon snow party complete with prizes and music.
The start and finish area is located opposite the Sporting Park (Sponsor Village) and can be reached within five minutes from the station.
On registering for the event, participants are given an envelope with a race number, a voucher for a free pasta plate, and admission to the health and fitness forum on Friday.
