Black Mountain Hosts Valentine's Day Chairlift Speed Dating

Black Mountain in the White Mountains of New Hampshire has an interesting Valentine's Day event coming up Feb. 12.

The mountain is celebrating Cupid's Day by inviting singles to take part in its annual Chairlift Speed Dating event.

What's that, you ask? As the name suggests, skiers and snowboarders ride up the chairlift with potential heart throbs.

Registration is free with purchase of a lift ticket. Show up at 12:30 p.m. in the Lostbo Pub, sign up, and you're all set.

Chairlift Speed Dating begins at the double chair at 2 p.m. with one line of women and one line of men, who pair up for a ride up the mountain. At the top, decide if you want to ski or snowboard off together, or go back down and try again.

An après ski party at the Lostbo Pub follows the event, with special Valentine's Day drinks, where riders can continue a conversation, or reconnect, with someone they rode up with.

Black Mountain in Jackson, N.H., has 40 trails and glades on 143 acres, served by a triple chairlift, a double, and two surface lifts, a vertical of 1,100 feet, and 98 percent snowmaking.
