Taste Local Delicacies On The Slopes Of Orelle Jan. 22

The resort of Orelle in Les 3 vallees has a host of winter highlights lined up for this season.

The Gastronomy Rendezvous at the top of the slopes Jan. 22 offers the chance to taste an authentic slice of the region. Numerous stalls will set up on the mountain offering the ideal break from skiing with local delicacies of food and drink.

The Orelle Carnival kicks off with balloons and waffles March 8 and is a bit hit with families.

The Snow Battle March 19 is one of the craziest events of the season. It is a giant snowball fight where the purpose of the game is to seize the flag of the opposite team without being touched by their snowballs. Tactics and strategy are as important as the arm of a good thrower.

The winter season ends with the Great Easter Egg Hunt April 25. Kids scour the resort to find the most chocolate eggs.

Orelle is a traditional village located in the Maurienne Valley. It is made up of eight hamlets lined with stone houses with slate roofs. The resort is part of the largest lift-linked ski area in the world - Les 3 Vallees. 

Skiers have a choice of three areas: Orelle/Val Thorens with 140 kilometres of slopes and 30 lifts; the Belleville valley with 300 kilometres of slopes (Orelle, Val Thorens, Les Menuires, St Martin of Belleville); or the entire 3 Vallees with its 600 kilometres of slopes and 180 ski lifts.
