June Mountain launches its 50th anniversary season this week. Lift tickets on opening day will be reduced in honor of the anniversary.
The resort plans to start up its lifts Thursday, Dec. 16. Conditions vary across the mountain, but the snow base built up to two to four feet deep by early December, depending on the aspect and elevation. June Mountain, like many other Sierra Mountain resorts, got a boost from a pre-Thanksgiving storm that dropped three feet of snow.
Lift tickets at June will cost $5 per person on opening day. The rate is in honor of the five decades the resort has been in operation. June opened for the first time in February 1961.
Regular lift ticket rates run $69 for adults, $52 for youth, and $35 for children and seniors. Half-day rates drop by $11-17.
Season passes for June Mountain are still on sale. Discounted season passes are available until Dec. 18, and they can be purchased online. The sale rates for passes run $414 for adults, $312 for youth, and $210 for children and seniors.
College students can get season passes for June Mountain at less than the rate for children. A college season pass costs $125.
