Learn To Ski Or Ride At Spirit Mountain For Free

It's arguably one of the best deals in the Great Lakes region for those looking to give skiing or snowboarding a try this winter. Spirit Mountain in Duluth, Minn., is providing free lessons on four Mondays during January. You just have to sign up 48 hours in advance of the lessons.

Free ski and snowboard lessons for beginners -- 13 years and up - are provided Jan. 2, 9, 23 and 30.The lessons, which normally cost $45, are given at 10 a.m. or 3 p.m. and include free equipment rental. Reservations need to be made at least 48 hours in advance of lesson day. Call the number listed below to reserve your spot, and don't delay. It's first come and lessons fill quickly. You haven't lost a thing. If, by an unlikely chance, you don't like sliding on snow. Give it a try.

Snow Saver Cards still are available through Dec. 24. You decide how many lift tickets you want to load on your card. Adult lift tickets are priced at $42-$47 this season. The adult lift ticket is priced at $29 per ticket and youth/senior card lift tickets are $24 each with this card. Put four or more lift tickets on your Snow Saver Card and receive a Timber Twister Alpine Coaster ticket. The card is transferable.

Spirit Mountain offers a big 700-foot vertical drop and jaw-dropping views of the city, harbor and Lake Superior. There is definitely something for everyone, with 22 downhill runs, the Midwest's largest terrain park, and 22 km of Nordic ski trails.
