The recent spring thaw and rain took a sudden toll on a number of Pennsylvania resorts. Liberty, Roundtop, and Whitetail all closed their seasons Sunday, March 14 just a month after the epic mid-Atlantic storm of 2010 dumped more that 40 inches of snow in one week. The three resorts are offering a reciprocal 2010-11 season pass for $399. The deadline to purchase at that price is April 30 when the price goes up.
Other Pennsylvania resorts have closed intermittently to conserve snow. Big Boulder, Blue Mountain, and Big Bear shut down for a day or two last weekend. Most are trying to stretch the season through March thanks to significant natural snowfalls in December and February and temperatures that enabled them to make ample amounts of machine-made snow. Be sure to check OnTheSnow.com for up to date snow reports, as conditions are likely to change on a daily basis. Those who remain open are offering good deals.
Jack Frost and Big Boulder are offering Snow Passes at $30 per day. The offer is good through the rest of the season. A $10 discount on tubing is also available with the purchase of a Snow Pass. An all-day tubing pass mid-week generally costs $25 and is reduced to $15. The same prices apply to a three-hour pass weekends.
