Boston Mills/Brandywine Winter Carnival Is Coming March 13

Boston Mills/Brandywine will be holding its Winter Carnival Saturday, March 13.  Filled with events and competitions that will appeal to a wide audience, it promises to be as much fun for spectators as participants.

A couple of the more unusual competitions are The Firehose Race and Garbage Bag Race.  The Firehose Race requires teams of four to ski/snowboard through a very gentle slalom course holding a firehose.  Drop it and you're out.  In the Garbage Bag Race you must get down the hill using only a garbage bag; no skis, snowboards, or even feet can be used.

There's also a slopestyle competition.  A couple of the better spectator events are the Bikini Race and the Slosh Pit.  Both events are pretty self explanatory. The Red Bull King of BOB, an extreme sledding event using the Austrian Zipfibobs sleds, is another fun event to watch.

The costume contest takes place in the afternoon when the top three costumes in each category are determined by audience applause.

While the Winter Carnival may be characterized as a "zoo," the real Cleveland Metroparks Zoo was on hand last year with a variety of zoo animals and handlers entertaining the public.  Plans weren't finalized at press time, but hopefully the zoo animals will be back again.  The kids loved it.
