Meribel: Home of world champions

Méribel has produced several champions who have excelled in international competitions. To name a few: Georges Mauduit, Julie Pomagalski, the Lau brothers (Chris, Phil and Sven), Jeremy Prevost, and Sacha Theocharis.

Georges Mauduit, World Champion in 1966, is the most famous of them, there's even a track named after him "The Mauduit." 

Snowboarder, Julie Pomagalski took Gold in boardercross in 1999 and Silver in the parallel giant in 2003.

The Lau brothers, a family of three lads Phil, Chris and Sven, monopolise the sport of telemarking. Phil won the World Cup Sprint in 2010, 2011 and 2012; Chris has completed the third ranking in the World Cup Sprint in 2011; and Sven won the World Cup Giant Bronze medal.

Jeremy Prevost first hit the snow when he was just 2 years old. He joined the FIS alpine racing but was soon drawn to freeskiing and started competing in 2008. Charismatic and talented he epitimises what the adrenalised sport of freeride skiing is all about with his favourite tricks being the backflip combo's and his motto Ski'n'Roll. The frenchman was the youngest rider on the Nissan Freeride World tour  at 21 years of age and he finished third in the final ranking.

Sacha Theocharis has been skiing since the age of 5. He quickly joined the freestyle section of Skiclub Meribel, before joining the Group Junior Freestyle/European Cup of the French team. He demonstartes perfect technical mastery coupled with excellent control during his jumps.
