The pond-skimming contest at “Huntah” is wicked fun, as the locals would attest. Participants get awards for best skim, best costume and best splash. Hunter Mountain makes snow like there’s no tomorrow (1,100 snow machines provide top to bottom coverage), so the base tends to persist well into Spring providing plenty of steep skiing and boarding.

Time it right and you may find some soft corn snow before heading to the base for snow volleyball, a live DJ spinning vinyl and a BBQ on the deck. Stick around for live music starting at 4 p.m. when rock and roll dance cover band “The Schmooze” takes the stage. It’ll be a great way to celebrate the end of the ski season in New York.
