Wild Mountain Ski and Snowboard Area, the popular day-trip area an hour east of St. Paul along the Wisconsin border, is holding its Monster Slush Fest Saturday, March 17, at 1:30 p.m.
Put on your best monster costume and head for Wild. All it takes to enter, besides a valid lift ticket, is a non-perishable food donation. There will be prizes given for best costume, farthest run, and one grand prize. It should be as much fun for spectators as participants; maybe more.
This weekend, March 17-18, is also Friends & Family Fun Days. Adult lift tickets are $32, children (6-12) and all rentals are $12. The Never Ending Lesson for skiers, ages 8 and up, and snowboarders, ages 12 and up, is free. Click on the ski area to print a coupon under upcoming events that you have to take to the ticket window to receive these rates.
The season is winding down. Sunday, March 25, is the scheduled closing day for this season. Wild was the first Heartland area to open for the 2011/12 season on Oct. 31. The ski area has been the earliest to open the last 12 seasons in a row. They normally compete with Ski Brule, located in Michigan's UP, for that honor.
