Cat Skiing Revs Up at Castle Mountain

Alberta's only cat skiing revs into operation for another season. Powder Stagecoach runs cat skiing on Mount Haig at Castle Mountain Resort.

Powder Stagecoach has use of 800 acres of terrain adjacent on the Huckleberry Chair at Castle Mountain. Many of the runs in the area plummet for 2,000 feet, and you'll get six to 10 runs in for your day, depending on conditions and skier abilities.

For a preview of cat skiing at Castle Mountain, take a look at the terrain in this video shot last March:

Cat skiing at Castle Mountain operates Thursdays through Saturdays. However, the cat is available for private rental any day.

Cat skiing with Powder Stagecoach at Castle costs $295 per person. The rate includes use of a pack, beacon, probe, and shovel.

You can add on extras, too, if you wish. A bag lunch costs $12. Fat board rentals cost $40 per day.

A special midweek cat ski package with lodging is available. It includes two nights in a hotel room, one day of lift skiing, one day of cat skiing, and breakfast for one day. Packages start at $209 per person per night.

Reservations are available by calling 888-627-5121. For more information on the package, check here.
