Adelboden Hosts World's Steepest Slalom Races Jan. 9-10

The AUDI FIS Ski World Cup 2010 is set to take place on the most difficult racecourse in the world, the ‘Chuenisbärgli', in Adelboden Jan. 9-10.

After the traditional Giant Slalom Saturday, Sunday's Slalom will produce impressive ski racing on the steepest finishing slope in the whole World Cup circuit.

The resort of Adelboden boasts more than 50 years of ski racing history. Last year the event attracted 37, 000 spectators and this year they're expecting at least as many.

Tickets to the Giant Slalom Jan. 9 are limited; viewing platform tickets are sold out, but there are still tickets available at the finishing slope. Jan. 10 tickets for the slalom are still available.

Tickets cost between €25 and €58 per person depending on location. There is a special viewing platform for wheelchair users in the finishing area. Combo tickets including ski pass for the Adelboden-Lenk ski area only can be bought on race days at the ticket offices of the ski area, and are not limited in numbers.

Austria's Benjamin Raich won the Giant Slalom and his compatriot Reinfried Herbst was fastest in the Slalom in 2009.

Celebrations actually begin Jan. 8 with a World Cup Show on the Märitplatz in Adelboden village starting at 7 p.m.
