Indianhead Mountain, in Michigan’s western Upper Peninsula snowbelt, has received nearly two feet of snow since the holidays. Top that with the resort’s January lift and lodging specials, and it’s a good reason for Heartland skiers and snowboarders to schedule a trip; especially with snow missing across much of the Midwest.
The resort’s sixth annual Brewski Microbrew Festival takes place this Saturday, Jan. 14, from 3 p.m. until the beer stops flowing in Dudley’s Saloon. After a day on the slopes sample 20 different brews from around the region. Tickets are $33 online and $38 at the door and include hors d’oeuvres, souvenir sample glass, and drink coupons.
Stay three nights for the price of two over Martin Luther King, Jr., weekend, and buy a two-day lift ticket for $92 and get a third day for free.
Indianhead has a lift and lodging special that is good through Feb. 23. Purchase a regular priced three-day adult lift ticket for $135, and you get three nights' lodging in the resort’s hotel for free, based on double occupancy.
Indianhead, with a 638-foot vertical drop and 30 runs, is one of the larger ski and snowboard resorts in the Great Lakes region. Located in what is often referred to as Big Snow Country, lake effect snow billows in off Lake Superior as cold air streams over the Great Lake. The resort receives on average 17 feet of snow per season.
