You're Free to Learn at Crested Butte

There may be obstacles for never-evers to learn how to ski or snowboard but, at Crested Butte Mountain Resort, cost isn't one of them.

The southern Rocky Mountain resort has taken National Learn to Ski & Snowboard Month to the extreme: Stay at a property owned and operated by the resort, and there’s no charge for lift tickets, lessons or rentals. The package applies to either children or adults who have never skied or snowboarded before – and to as many beginners who want to come. They must stay for two nights.

In addition, Crested Butte has made the month of January last until March 3. The learn-to-ski/snowboard offer runs throughout January and February, and includes a lift ticket for the beginners-only area, a lesson from the resort’s ski school instructors, and rental of skis or snowboard. There’s an upgrade available if the never-ever gets hooked and wants to try out some more challenging terrain.

Crested Butte maintains a wide variety of lodging, from hotel rooms to condominiums. Single hotel rooms start around $170 a night, and two-bedroom condos go for around $325 per person per night. For more information, call Crested Butte Vacations at 800-600-2803.
