Afton Alps Offers Family Value Days; Free Beginner Lessons

Afton Alps, one of the largest ski areas near the Twin Cities, has been turning Minnesotans on to skiing for the last half-century. Arguably one of the finest ski schools in the Heartland, they even offer a free lesson to anyone purchasing a lift ticket and rental equipment.

They want to make sure all new skiers and snowboarders get started on the right track. Every day Afton offers a free, one-hour beginner lesson to everyone, ages 10 and up, that purchases a full-price lift ticket and rental package. You even get a $5 Afton Alps bonus card in the mail for taking the lesson.

Ski & Ride Simplified, for anyone 10 and older, is $99.95, which covers three lift tickets, rentals and lessons. You come out three separate evenings after 4:30 p.m, and the lessons are given at 5 and 6:30 p.m. You choose the evenings and the time for the lesson.  The rest of the evening can be spent skiing or riding.  Follow this link for more information.

Family Value Days take place Sunday, Jan. 8 and Feb. 5, from 2 p.m to close. Two family members are $52, which includes two lift tickets, and each additional family member is $22. All of the lift tickets must be purchased at one time, and at least one family member must be a parent or guardian.  Rental equipment is half-off, and beginner group lessons are offered for $4 per person.
