Bogus Basin Rewards Beginners With Free Season Pass

Bogus Basin's popular Passport Program for beginners returns this season, with a reward of a season pass upon completion.

The goal of the Passport Program is to get more beginners on the slopes. It is designed for anyone age 12 and older that wants to learn to ski or snowboard. Getting first-timers on the slopes is so important to Bogus Basin that the resort started up beginner lessons last weekend even though the non-beginner slopes on the remainder of the mountain were not ready to open. 

The Passport Program includes four lesson sessions that last one hour and 45 minutes each. Lesson sessions start on the two conveyor carpets - one 200 feet long and the other 400 feet long. The lessons can be spread throughout the season or packed into one long weekend. Passport lessons are available Thursdays, weekends, holidays, and Thursday and Saturday nights.

The passports allow participants to access the beginner lifts, and participants get equipment use included in the package. Skis, boots, and poles or snowboards and boots can be used free during the lesson and afterwards for the day or evening. 

The Winter Passport Program runs in December and January. The program, which allows beginners to participate once, costs $249.

Bogus Basin also offers a Spring Passport in February and March. The Spring Passport program costs $229.

The program rewards those who graduate from the four-lesson sessions by giving them a season pass. The pass is valid until closing in April.

Because of the popularity of the program, Bogus Basin has added one-hour orientation sessions for interested adults and parents. The sessions introduce how the program works and explain how to prepare for the experience, including what to expect in lessons and what to wear. Remaining orientation sessions this winter are scheduled for Jan. 2, Jan. 30, and Feb. 27.

The resort recently inaugurated its second conveyor lift, made necessary by the high volume of beginner skiers and riders taking lessons.
