A combination of late November snowfall and cold temperatures for snowmaking has given Ski Santa Fe the boost it needed to open its slopes Saturday (Dec. 3). The resort had originally hoped to get lifts running on Thanksgiving weekend.
Two chairlifts will open – the Santa Fe Super Chief and Easy Street Beginner Chair – to serve the two green trails of Midlands and Easy Street. The Pine Flats Conveyor Lift will also open in the base area for beginners to get the season going on the Pine Flats slope.
The northern New Mexico resort reported 18 inches of base prior to opening, but weather forecasts for the region project snowfall into the weekend opening.
Despite the limited acres of skiing and snowboarding, Ski Santa Fe management says all on-mountain amenities are open for business, including the La Casa Café, Totemoff’s Bar & Grill, Ski Santa Fe Sports Shop, Ski & Snowboard Rental Shop, the resort’s ski and snowboard school, and the Chipmunk Children’s Center.
Because of the limited terrain, management has reduced lift ticket prices to $48 for adults, $42 for teens, $38 for children, seniors and active military, and $38 for half days. All ticket prices get further discounts with the Peak Plus Card, which can be purchased online.
