Sälen Opens Huge Waterpark, Spa

Sälen, Sweden's largest ski resort has just opened ‘Experium,' a gigantic waterpark and spa.  

Experium is an entertainment centre for visitors of all ages, but the main target group is families. The new centre houses a waterpark with waterslides, a ‘flowrider' surfing machine, a sauna world, day spa, a gym, a children's play area with bowling and 3D cinema, a wide selection of restaurants.

Urban Jansson, managing director Experium AB says: "This is an immensely important venture for us and a major investment in tourism in Sweden. Sälen is already the single largest tourist destination in Scandinavia and with Experium we will now be able to provide families with a complete portfolio in terms of experiences and holiday activities."

Sälen is made up of four separate ski areas: Lindvallen, Högfjället, Tandådalen, and Hundfjället.

Lindvallen is a favourite with families and is home to Europe's biggest continuous ski field. Högfjället is the smallest ski resort with a compact ski area. Tandådalen is particularly popular with advanced skiers as it boasts the highest number of black runs in the area. Hundfjället has a wide range of runs from the Väggen (the Wall) to green nursery slopes and the Trollskogen.

In total it offers access to 145 kilometres of downhill pistes linked by 100 modern lifts and 300 kilometres of cross-country pistes. The area offers some good snowboarding with two snow and terrain parks.
