As a former international ski racer, I have skied all overthe world. Tamarack does have one thing going for it, no lift lines and uncrowded runs. The not so great parts is the lack of any real challenging terrain, also the developers started out the gate with crazy Sun Valley prices for real estate and seem more on that aspect than being a real skiers mountain. They should have build a grand lodge in the beginning instead of a make shift low class temp area they have. I hear families that have brought their own food turned away from the main temp lodge to eat their food in their cars or in the snow, this was a day that the wind was blowing at a clip. The food prices are also up there with Sun Valley. In all I guess some of the reason it s uncrowded. As I write this it is from pasted experience as Tamarack closed March 2009 and it is Oct 2009 and I am waiting for the courts ruling wether Tamarack HOA will be able to gain credit and open this season or the resort lift will be dismantled and sold. That would be sad for all partys and so many people will loose another place to ski. The hill isn't that great , but it's not that bad either. I'd hate to see it go by the way side.
