My wife and I were skiing on the Zermatt gacier this Summer.
I have to say that we we most disapointed with the experience given that of the runs marked as open as displayed on the piste map at the lower lift, half of them were reserved for international ski teams who had bought the rights to exclusive use. Recreational skiers were given the more open [and boring] runs in the middle of the glacier. WE had bought 6 days worth of passes and have to say that 3 would have been enough. Complained to the Zermatt authorities who were unable to understand the problem, instead showing me time tables and piste reports showing which slopes were open [but failing to understand that they were not available to recreational skiers !!!
We were also concerned about the use of Piste bashers in the middle of the runs -carrying out piste maintenance in the middle of the morning !!!
