I think its time for everyone who skis, to acknowledge that not wearing a helmet is just plain dumb for adults and children. I started wearing one, when I made my 6 year old wear one. Time and again it proves to be the smart choice.
Whether its as simple as keeping my head dry when skiing through snow gun spray, getting clanged by the bar on a lift, someone swinging skis over their shoulder or falling backwards on an unexpected patch of ice.
Its like wearing a seatbelt in a car.
We as skiers should wear them for our own mutual good.
Otherwise some bureaucrat somewhere is going to decide this for us.
Its not about false security, its about reducing your risk.
If you where shipping a piece of crystal would you wrap it in a knit hat or would a foam case with a layer of hard plastic on the outside sound like a better approach?
I agree if you are not wearing a helmet you should be. It may not protect you if smash into a tree at 30mph, but it doesn't hurt you by wearing one. Would you put your kid or yourself on a bike or motorcycle without one? If you answered yes, I have no comment. You are probably going faster on skis than a bike. Makes sense to me. Put a helmet on you only look like a dufus if your not wearing one.

What's wrong with warm, dry and some protection?
