    My whole family got skiis for christmas and let me tell you.... they are so better than renting... first you dont have get measured every time, wait in ling lines or any of that stuff..... i would strongly recommend buying rather than renting.

    I agree in most situations. However, at Vail, you can register your preferences, ski lengths, boot size and keep them stored in the computer. The next time you need to rent skis, you can reserve exactly what you like, online. Skis also change very quickly. Most of us who teach skiing get a new pair of skis every year - not because they necessarily wear out (although skiing over 120 days a year does take its toll on equipment), but because the changes in technology are so exciting. It's almost like leasing vs. buying a new car.
