So Having learned to snowboard at AZ SNOWBOWL, I am ready to take my career to Tahoe, since I have family in the area. SNOWBOWL has taught me to be patient due to their slow lifts, tolerant of crappy service, and has prepared me for the worse parking and terrain availability. I am guaranteed to have a great time in Tahoe, and after much research from OnTheSnow, I have decided to visit Kirkwood first. I am a beginner, but I will have some sessions at both Snowbowl and Sunrise a couple of times before taking on Kirkwood.
I can't wait.

    Hmm, very interesting.
It is really hard to make a decision based off of just text based information. Both of your comments so far have at least reinforced my thoughts and feelings about kirkwood being a more open place. I wish OnThe Snow had a point rating system for both skiers and snowboarders so that more research can be done. Thanks for your comments guys - I am going to start my decision process all over again and let you all know what i decide on.
thanks for commenting - have fun this season!!!

I agree with bennis, you would like Heavenly. However I believe Sierra at Tahoe would be even better.Kirkwood has a large area of 'flats'.I went there last season and to avoid the flats I had to take a black run, which was pretty cool because I was an intermediate skill rider.Totally boosted my confidence to be on a black run.Anyway, the flats are in an intermediate area coming from the backside. If you don't have the guts to go balck and stay in the blue intermediates to get back to the village, you have to go through the flats and believe me,you will do some hiking. At Sierra the y have flowing runs like Sugar n Spice which is actually a beginner/intermediate run that goes from top to bottom and is 3 miles long .You have an incredible view of the lake from there also.Wherever you gothough, you will love it.
