This winter is gonna be big for me. My family has decided to take a week off to spend skiing in Colorado. I myself am a good skier(in PA terms) and want to branch out and experience what it's really like. The resorts that are kind of at the top of the list are as followed. Number 1 pick, Telluride. Second would have to be Crested Butte and finally third would be Keystone. I want to do some wide open bowls in fresh pow, but I'm only skiing a pair of AR6's, so nothing to crazy. I also really want some intermediate cliff runs(with a small hike or not) but nothing where i can screw up and die. Night life isn't a big deal, but some would be nice. I ski park sometimes, but hey, I can do that in PA, so while I'm in Colorado I might as well tear up the famous back country. (I want to come home in once piece) This is my first Colorado trip, maybe you can help me with it. Thanks a lot.

depends on when you come to CO.
T-ride has the terrain youre looking for but has great early season and not so great late season snow cos of the location.
one good thing is that from telluride you can jump over to silverton mtn for some real deal pow and not too hectic cliffs. The drawback (or benefit, some say) is that the chair only goes up part way and you hike to the rest of it.
Crested def has the cliffs and bowls too and if you go early season or super late season the lift tix are FREE.
Teh bad thing about crested is that there are no other resorts nearby.
Keystone has some bowls but no cliffs but the good thing is that its so close to a basin and breck and loveland that you if you get bored of one place, just go to the next place.

Those three cadidates are what I would probably debate against myself - but telluride is an automatic yes just because of how amazing i have heard its terrain to be. not to mention the nightlife

All that I can tell you is that I was at Telluride 2 years ago and it was like like living in a dream world. The scenery was stunning to say the least. We spent a lot to have a ski in - ski out condo in the village. took the gondola down to town for world class dining so we did not have to drive when there. It was beyond words as we arrived on a post card powder day. Back to skiing, It was great to say the least. Lots of everything and lots of serious stuff as well.
Also you might want to check out Steamboat and Snowmass. It sounds like those places might be what you are looking for as well....
