I am planning a family ski vacation for 5 beginner to intermediate/advanced skiers for Jan. 4-10, 2010. I have heard that Snowmass is a hard place to beat when it comes to family skiing, and is just about one of the best resorts there is. However, the one thing that i cannot stand is an over-crowded resort where I'm always having to look over my shoulder worrying about other skiers running into me or vice versa. If this is Snowmass, then someone please warn me.

I have read that Snowmass is so big that crowds are not too much of an issue, but I would like to get someone's personal opinion. Also, I have been told that during Jan. 4-10 the slopes will not be too crowded. Does this sound correct to anyone?

Whoever decides to answer my post, I do greatly appreciate it!

Thanks!

We went to Snowmass last year between Christmas and New Year's. The crowds were not a problem. So I imagin that it will be great in January. There is so much terrain. Couldn't be a better place to Ski. The food is pricey but everything else is perfect.

Book your trip to Snowmass immediately - you will not be disappointed. The mountain is very large, so even with many skiers around, the place is not crowded, and you will find very few liftlines, if any. I think going during this time is also prime because it is after Christmas and New Years Holiday week and before MLK weekend.. so you couldn't pick a better week in January (for crowd free skiing). Naturally later in the month you might be guaranteed better conditions as snow bases increase into the season, but all in all -should be a good time! Also - most of the Colorado skier traffic sticks to resorts closer to Denver (Breckenridge, Keystone, Winter Park) - so you might just find the place all to yourself. Enjoy!
