It's been a difficult feat, but I've been able to not talk about snow or skiing or winter since my last blog post here on OTS. Sure, there's been subtle hints at a ski trip for the winter, or a "yeah, I need to buy that" talk, but nothing like the epic nights at the local watering hole, on a gin-fueled trip down memory lane about untouched lines in Utah, or that first time you dropped in above the tree line. That is, until about 24 hours ago.

Because it was 24 hours ago that I saw a tweet on Twitter from Teton Gravity Research (TGR) talking about the pre-order of their new ski movie, "Re: Session." I had already seen the trailer, but managed to stay calm by immediately distracting myself with a round of golf (I try to offset the need for snow by engaging in summer activities). Now, it's just too unbearable. I can feel the levy of emotions for my favorite activity and season ready to burst. I can already see me and my two closest ski partners sitting in my living room in front of my TV watching ski movies hour after hour and saying "DID YOU SEE THAT" or "I remember the Fingers at Bridger!"

I'll try to hold back. The Turn isn't here yet, but it's nearing. The first frost is when I'll let myself go. When I wake up and it's below freezing, that's a good time to start looking at the sticks, longing for the rush, thinking about the apres. When the leaves start falling and the days are shorter, I'll allow myself to look at some airline tickets to Cali. And when the first snow falls, you can guarantee that I'll be outside with a cold beer and a powder cigar with my two ski partners in between a TGR and MSP flick on the big screen, talking about the season ahead, and how it will be the best ever.
