Over the past three days ski areas from throughout the Northwest have been attending seminars, training on new lift repair and inspection techniques, and ramping up already for next season.
Leavenworth, Washington has been the site for the PNSAA Spring Operations and Maintenance Conference. Willamette Pass resort was heavily represented with ten employees and owner Tim Wiper. Tim Adkins, assistant lift supervisor said "the knots class was probably the best seminar I attended. What I learned is that Willamette Pass Resort is already leading the industry in so many areas of technology and services."
Scott Kaden, president of the Pacific Northwest Ski Areas Association was pleased with the attendance and participation. "Considering the state of the economy and the challenges faced by Northwest Ski Areas this winter it was fantastic having such good attendance." Next year's conference is scheduled for "River Run Resort" in Bend, Oregon.
For those of you skiers and riders it should be valuable to know that while the resorts may have shut down with snow on the ground the staff of your favorite hill is already learning, working, planning to make next year the best experience possible.
