Recently, I purchased the Burton Speed Zone Grom snowboard boots in Plum, 5Y (I have small feet).
I have been using Solomon Kiana 06/07 boots for the past two seasons and they never gave me any problems.
I got new boots because my heels started to come up, which I took as a sign that it was time to get new boots.
I liked the inner boot of the Burton Speed Zone because it contoured to my ankle and I felt very secure in them. The boots were also stiff which I liked.
The first time I used the Burton boots, I had to tighten them up after every run. This wasn't too bad. It was just annoying.
The lacing system is also hard to get used to. One side does the lower half and the other side does the ankle area. I had a lot of trouble loosening the boot by my toe area and it was very hard to pull the boots off. I made sure several times that the laces were not in the locked position. I had to have someone pull the boots off of my feet.
This I can all deal with, but what I cannot stand is getting my feet wet. Granted, I snowboarded on a soft snow day and there were slush spots, but my feet never got wet in the years that I wore my Solomons.
After a couple runs, I started feeling drips of water going onto my toes. I shrugged it off. After riding that day, when I took my boots off, my socks/inner boots were wet up to my ankles. The outer boot was drenched.
I will probably try to waterproof the boots before I use them again. I will not use them if there is any wet snow.
I'm probably going to go look for another pair of Solomon boots. At least the Burton boots were on sale, so I don't feel as bad.
