It's my birthday today and my dad told me that we were going to Colorado for Spring Break!! We were thinking of going to Silverton mountain so I looked at their map they only had one lousy double! What do they expect us to do walk 2 miles just to go on one run or pay 30$ to go up the helicopter!!

So you and your Dad are going to ski Silverton, CO. This resort is for skiers and boarders who want a guided day in some of Colorado's highest and steepest lift serviced terrain. One lift. An old two man chair. The lift ride takes about eight minutes then you'll be expected to hike any where from ten minutes to an hour. Longer if you decide to show up and join a group. Groups of eight are paired together, depending on your hiking speed. Slow or fast. You will also need all of your avalanche gear. Beacon, shovel, probe, pack. They do rent of course. If you're renting equipt, it's likley you don't really know how to use the gear to begin with. Which your group should know. Their lives depend on it. When skiing here, expect to ski what you get. NO GROOMERS, NO PARKS. Just good ol' fashioned steeps and cliffs as far as the eye can see. If you want to see some quality pics and need some info on the town and resort, email me @ bigbmccuesurf@yahoo.com I'll give you a heads up. Silverton is a guided backcountry experience. BigB

No, they expect you to ride the creaky old chair, then hike for 20-30 minutes, and then ski the backcountry. Unless you and your Dad are really adventurous, you might want to start at Purgatory instead. Good luck!
