when i use "typical" to describe elk mountain, it is not a bad thing.
i was here for my second sunday pass.. well, monday, since our pass was not valid on sunday.
i came with my dad and i already had my boots on. i took a run down the ungroomed seneca- too icy to be enjoyable. unfortunatly i broke a sweat. i headed to the small terrain park where i hit several of the features.. nothing impressive
anyway, the day was filled with a few challenging, ungroomed slopes such as chippewa and wylusing.
i didn't go into the lodge once and the mountain was about half as crowded than on MLK last year. this brought up a question, IS ELK LOSING BUSINESS TO OTHER LOCAL MOUNTAINS?
either way, that is better for my sunday's up there with the family. i decided to go down the closed "lehigh" trail (sp?)
i ducked right under the orange rope, it was ALL powder and the best run of the day. thankfully i did not get caught ;)
there was not a single bare spot, anybody looking for a good cruiser in the coming days, duck the rope and head down lehigh.. you'll be glad you did.
in a closing note, i DID bring the camera up but my father was completely idiotic.. he took several videos of me unwillingly, sometimes filming old ladies and the sky. i did not get any pictures, either.
it was a nice day at elk however sno mountain's conditions blow them out of the water (err.. snow?)
