Well, after 10+ years of thinking about it, and rapidly approaching 30 years of age, I finally took the plunge and snowboarded. Went to Ski Roundtop, which is about 30 mins north of York, PA. Conditions weren't the best, it was quite icy (I'm told that is pretty standard fare for this region of the country), but I had a lot of fun.

SR was offering a package deal where you got the lesson/beginner lift/rental for $39. I couldn't pass that up, and my family really wanted to know whether I liked it or not, since Christmas is coming soon. The instructor was great - I quickly picked up a good deal of what I needed.

Only problem I'm having is figuring out how to turn the board. I can even stop myself fairly well.. just can't figure out how to turn yet. A little frustrating but I have to stick with it.

One thing is for certain.. I'm a little sore today hehe

Welcome to snowboarding! Keep practicing and you'll eventually get used to edging and turning your board. It's frustrating at first, but once you get it, you'll want to be on the slopes all the time. There are a lot of resources on the web to help explain how to turn and stop. Good luck!
