Ski resorts in Bulgaria and Austria are best value for UK families this winter, according to new research by the Post Office Travel Services.
Bansko ski resort in Bulgaria emerged as best value for UK families followed by Ellmau in Austria. The total cost for a family of four on a six-day ski holiday in Bansko is £1,012.39 and in Ellmau is £1,504.53.
The Ski Resort Report 2009 by the Post Office Travel Services is based on research into this winter's prices. The report investigated the costs of lift passes and equipment hire together with the meal and drinks prices for families in ski destinations across Europe and North America.
Following Bankso and Ellmau was Soldeu, Andorra (£1,690.92); Les Menuires, France (£1,881.10); and Selva, Italy (£1974.32). The USA's Winter Park was one of the most expensive resorts for UK families, costing £2,478.41 for six days (flights not included).
Bansko Resort offers a modern ski area which has greatly benefited from a multi-million euro investment. Its new resort area features luxury hotels, holiday apartments, and a state-of-the-art gondola lift. Bansko is Bulgaria's most popular resort and also offers one of the longest seasons (Dec. 15 - May 15).
