Canaan Valley's holiday offerings culminate with a three -day package that will ring in the new year. The New Year's Family Bash Dec. 31 - Jan 3 combines a three-day stay and a three-day lift ticket with a New Year's Eve celebration that includes dinner, DJ entertainment, games, prizes, party favors, and a punch toast at midnight. The package costs $355 per person, double occupancy.
An adult version of the package runs $367 per person, double occupancy. The dinner venue is in the Hickory Room followed by entertainment featuring Brother Short in the Laurel Lounge and a champagne toast at midnight. Both packages include access to the Beech Club.
Canaan Valley is one of a handful of alpine resorts in the Mid Atlantic that also offers cross country skiing and snowshoeing. There are 30 kilometers of groomed trails and open meadows for those who want to try a different snow sport or don't alpine ski or ride. Equipment rentals are available at the Nature Center. Skis and snowshoes cost $20 for adults and $18 for children. There is no charge for trail use and conditions are dependent on natural snowfall.
Canaan Valley averages 160 inches of snow annually.
