Maryland's Wisp Resort is toasting New Year's Eve with a celebration 7 p.m. to midnight Dec. 31 in The Lodge. The resort is giving away a lift ticket and Mountain Coaster ticket every hour. Live entertainment is on the docket with the Subway Variety and Show Band. The group specializes in '50s and '60s classics and Motown.
Lifts will operate 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. Holiday pricing is in effect but purchasing a $59 morning session lift ticket for the 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. session, or a twilight ticket good from 1 to 9 p.m., can save a few dollars and still leave time for the festivities.
Partygoers can watch Times Square coverage on a big screen TV. A live fireworks display will go off at midnight. Cost for the party is $20 for adults and $10 for children. That does not include food and beverages but D.C.'s Bar and Restaurant and the food court will be open throughout the evening.
Pennsylvania's Bear Creek celebrates its 10th birthday starting at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23. Guests will get a $10 extended day lift ticket. Birthday cake and live music will be served up in the lodge.
