Natural snow jumpstarted Mont-Sainte-Anne's efforts to get going this season, and snowmaking temperatures allowed the resort to fire up its arsenal of snowguns.
The resort opened on four slopes for skiing and riding, and an 800-meter cross-country ski training loop, seven days a week.
The first trails open were La Quanick, La Printannière, La Mélanie Turgeon and La Paradeuse. A new cross-country skiing loop exclusively reserved to training is set up on the west side of the summit, reachable by the panoramic gondola and able to accommodate up to 50 athletes simultaneously, in both skating and classic styles.
Operators plan to have 80 percent of their terrain open for the Christmas holidays.
Mont-Sainte-Anne has a variety of Christmas holiday events planned beginning Dec. 19 and running through the New Year's weekend.
