The new, five-star Ritz-Carlton Highlands opened last week, taking in its first guests Dec. 9. The Northstar-at-Tahoe luxury hotel is also offering a Sneak Peak Ski Package for the winter.

The Sneak Peak Ski Package combines a deluxe room, two adult or two child lift tickets for Northstar-at-Tahoe, resort fees, and valet parking. The 455-square-foot deluxe rooms include a king or two queen beds, a gas fireplace, a flat-screen television, entertainment connectivity console for laptops and iPods, wired and wireless Internet access, 400 thread count linens, plush bathrobes, goose-down comforters, marble bathrooms with dual sinks, oversized tubs, and spacious closets. The non-smoking rooms include floor-to-ceiling windows with views of the mountains or forest.

Rates for the Sneak Peak Ski Package start at $349 per night. A three-night minimum stay is required, and the package is available through Dec. 23, and then again Jan. 4 - Apr. 11.

A daily resort fee of $25 per room is included in the package. The resort fee covers Internet access, local phone calls, daily newspaper, shuttle services within Northstar, access to the fitness center, spa, and adult pool, daily group exercise class, and in-room coffee.

The Ritz-Carlton Highlands, located mid-mountain at Northstar-at-Tahoe, has ski in-ski out access. It also includes a 17,000 square foot spa with a sauna, steam room, and whirlpool and a fitness center. Two heated pools are also outdoors.
