New Year's Eve often caters only to adults with parties. But Fernie and Kimberley Alpine Resorts host two different parties for New Year's Eve-one targeting adults and the other for families.

Fernie's family party takes place Dec. 31 from 6 to 9 p.m. The Mighty Moose lift runs for night skiing while the base area offers different activities from warming up around an outdoor fire pit with hot chocolate to arts and crafts. The New Year's countdown for families starts at 9 p.m. to get the kids to bed so they can ski the next day.

Kimberley's family party runs 7 - 9 p.m. with roasting marshmallows and making s'mores by the outdoor fire. Ice skating in the Plaza is also available. Both family parties are free.

Fernie's adult party takes place in the Griz Bar. The Todd Sellecks band plays from 3-6 p.m. as skiers and riders wrap up their day on the slopes. The band returns in the evening for the official New Year's Eve party and dance with a champagne toast at midnight. The Griz Bar party is for those age 19 and older. The doors open for admission at 8:30 p.m. Tickets for the sellout event cost $35 CAD and are available at the guest services desk.

Kimberley's adult New Year's Eve party takes place at The Stemwinder Bar and Grill. The party features a special menu and live music.
