Boyne Mountain and Highlands kick off the holiday season with 6 for 1 day this Friday, Dec. 18. This annual event pays homage to America's first six-person high-speed chairlift, the Mountain Express. Six people ride for the price of one, and it's good at either resort.
Stay two nights between Dec. 17 and 19 and earn a complimentary Frequent Skier/Rider Card, which gets you two weeks of free skiing and riding and up to $25 off lift tickets. You receive the card upon checkout. Lift and lodging packages are available from $81 per person, per night based on double occupancy.
Both resorts will be celebrating New Year's Eve in style.
You have a couple of choices for dinner at the Mountain.
Stein Eriksen's will be putting on a lavish spread featuring carved tenderloin of beef paired with a lobster tail for $65 per person. Live dinner music will be provided, and reservations are required. A family buffet will be served in the Vienna Room from 5-9 p.m. Adults are $21.95, children 7-12 are $10.95 and 4-6 are $6.95. Watch the torchlight parade and fireworks at 10 p.m. from the base of Hemlock.
Twisted Finster, one of northern Michigan's best live bands, will be hosting the New Year's Eve party in the Civic Center from 9:30 p.m.-1:30 a.m. The cover charge is $5 per person and includes a midnight champagne toast.
You can enjoy fine dining in the main dining room At the Highlands with entrees ranging in price from $36 to $20. A kids menu is available. The Olympic Buffet for ages 13 and up is $19.95, 9-12 is $12.75, and 5-8 is $7.95.
A torchlight parade and fireworks will start around 10 p.m., and the Sundogs will be supplying live music for the party in the Slopeside Lounge.
