Mt. Hood Skibowl and Mt. Hood Meadows know how to celebrate the New Year right. You can night ski or ride under the lights, and ring in the New Year with fireworks shows.

Mt. Hood Skibowl already has a reputation for big night skiing terrain. But New Year's Eve lengthens the amount of time you can spend on the slope.

The ski resort throws its New Year's Eve extravaganza Dec. 31. Lifts run until 2 a.m., allowing skiers and riders a way to be on their skis or boards when the new year starts. Fireworks also light up the sky at midnight.

A New Year's Eve party is scheduled in the Ratskeller Alpine Bar and Pizzeria in Government Camp. Live music by Pap Coyote livens up the atmosphere starting at 9 p.m.

Mt. Hood Meadows runs its lifts until 10 p.m. for skiing and riding. Fireworks light up the slopes after night skiing.

The resort serves up a New Year's Eve dinner buffet with two seating times at 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. A New Year's Eve party with live entertainment and a champagne toast runs from 8:30 p.m. until after midnight for those age 21 and older.

Adult shuttles will run New Year's Eve from the Monarch Hotel in Clackamas. Dinner reservations and shuttle tickets are available through the online store.
