Switzerland Snowed Under

The traditional resort of Champéry, which celebrates 150 years of tourism this winter, is typical, reporting current snow depths of 20cm (eight inches) and 50cm (20 inches) including another 10cm (four inches) of fresh snow today (Thursday 25th January). The resort is part of the Portes du Soleil giant ski region that straddles the French-Swiss border, connecting 14 resorts with 650km (403 miles) of runs. 90% (180 of 204) runs are currently open. The new snow should help Champéry open new terrain parks and park features in the area. The existing Superpark is due to add a Micropark for beginners and children and new parks are due to open in neighbouring Champoussin and Morgins but so far their opening has been delayed by the lack of snow.
