Want to have a New Year's Eve that really feels like winter? Then head to Bear Mountain or Snow Summit where you can find the snow. Grab a day of skiing and riding followed by nighttime festivities to celebrate the New Year.
Both ski resorts are open, thanks to snowmaking on all runs and a boost of natural moisture, too. The resorts are adding new terrain and more lifts open each day and expect to be fully open by the holidays.
Big Bear aims to build its signature terrain park features again, and Snow Summit plans to continue their policy of limited lift ticket sales to ensure maximum time on the slopes.
New Year's Eve festivities are scheduled for both ski resorts. Bear Mountain hosts a New Year's Eve party in its Board Room. The party, which costs $25 per person, features the DJ Club George and offers light appetizers and a no-host bar.
Snow Summit brings out the lights for the annual torchlight parade at 7 p.m. and continues the evening with night skiing. Snow Summit's New Year's Eve party follows with music provided by the DJ Desi and a no-host bar. The party costs $10.
Both parties run 9 - 12:30 p.m. and are open only to those ages 21 and older.
