Blue Knob All Seasons Resort in Pennsylvania will kick off its season with a special "Toys for Tots" event Friday, Dec. 18 at the venue's ski lodge. It originally was scheduled for Dec. 4 but mild temperatures prevented the area from making snow.

Marines from the 4th Marine Division based in Ebensburg will be collecting the toys for needy children. Anyone donating a toy valued at $15 or more gets a voucher good for a full day midweek lift pass. Last season Marines collected over 400 toys to distribute to children throughout the region as part of the program.

The event starts at 9 a.m. Skiing will be available depending on snow conditions. This season the resort has expanded its snowmaking abilities with additional equipment and personnel. Non-skiers are welcome to attend.

Blue Knob is offering a special deal to all military personnel during Military Appreciation Week  Jan. 4 - 10 as a thank you to troops defending the U.S. All Active Duty, Reserve, National Guard, Retired Personnel with proper identification and dependents will receive 50 percent off lodging, lift tickets, ski and snowboard rentals, lessons, and tubing. The offer is not valid with any others.

Blue Knob is the highest skiable mountain in Pennsylvania with a vertical of nearly 1,100.
