Marmot Basin has been home to day after day of powder this season, with a record-breaking November snow yielding almost as much as their season total last year. The coverage has all lifts operating for the holidays with the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge offering New Year's Eve celebrations and a ski free package.
The lodge rings in the New Year with dinners, dancing, and family activities. The Banquet Carnivale, taking its inspiration from the European tradition of masked balls and costume festivals, fills the Beauvert Ballroom with food stations. Admission to the banquet costs $129 CAD for adults and includes entrance to the Carnivale Dance. Children get a special rate of $78 CAD for ages 13-17 and $58 CAD for ages 5-12. Those in the youngest age group also have admission to Piccolo Carnivale's children's festival.
The Light. Luce. Licht. seven-course plated dinner in the Edith Cavell Restaurant features elegant dining accompanied by live music. The dinner costs $199 per person with admission to the Carnivale Dance included. Alcohol is additional.
Parents looking for an adult night out can send children ages 5-12 to the Piccolo Carnivale, an evening of supervised children's festivities with dancing, jugglers, contortionists, snacks, and movies. The cost is $40 CAD per child.
The New Year's Carnivale Dance, which costs $30 per person including a signature cocktail on arrival, takes place in the Great Hall with live music by The Urbanites.
Reservations are recommended for all four New Year's Eve activities.
Skiers and riders can also get a Ski For Free Package at Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge. The offer, which runs all season long, costs $229 CAD per room per night, based on double occupancy in a Fairmont Room. A two-night minimum is required. A two-night stay include one days of skiing at Marmot Basin for two adults. A three-night stay includes two days of skiing, and four nights at the lodge grants three days of skiing.
