Crested Butte provides performances, parades, and parties for the New Year holiday. It starts with Rock on Ice, Dec. 18-21. Six world champion ice carvers come up with frosty creations in mere minutes, with rock ‘n roll blasting in the background.

Crested Butte Mountain Theatre presents another holiday production with Miracle on 34^th Street at Crested Butte Center for the Arts. It's a musical comedy performed throughout the Christmas and New Year's holiday.

The New Year's Eve Torchlight Parade starts at 6 p.m., with fireworks immediately following. The ski area also offers a Moonlight Snowshoe Tour New Year's Eve. You'll take a snowcat ride to the top of the Red Lady Express Lift and then snowshoe down the moonlit mountain trails to the base area.  Sleigh rides are also offered.

The third annual Frozen Buns Resolution Run kicks off the New Year with a 5K run. It starts at 5 p.m. New Year's Day. Runners journey from the Crested Butte Visitor Center toward Peanut Lake under the light of tiki torches, glow sticks, flashlights, and alpenglow. There is also a kids' run called, "Are We There Yet?" It's a 1-mile run starting at the same time.

The Crested Butte Nordic Center has the Full Moon "New Year's Eve Party At The Yurt" Ski and Snowshoe Tour to Magic Meadows. It's Dec. 31.

Finally, the artsy will enjoy the ArtWalk Evening gallery walk on New Year's Eve. Light refreshments, music, and on-site artists are featured at the galleries.
