Les Saisies invites visitors to head far north for the third Nordic Festival Dec. 12 and 13. Come celebrate the arrival of the snow, the opening of the resort, and sample a few maple syrup delights.
The festivities begin at 10 a.m. Saturday morning with the opening of the activity village. Here, Canadian trappers will lead guests into their frosty universe with an array of demonstrations. At the traditional syrup cabin, for example, the trappers will demonstrate how the sugary liquid is extracted and used in diverse culinary preparations.
Bruno Clément, director of Les Saisies Tourism Office explains, "We wanted to create a festival that recreated a very magical and festive atmosphere just before the Christmas holidays. Here, visitors can try their hand at several Nordic activities and take advantage of the Christmas market to pick up a few gifts before Christmas."
The Nordic Festival brings together several activities: the Christmas market, the construction of igloos, and this year, the official inauguration of the Chamois chairlift and the Mountain Twister - an attraction that combines the thrilling experiences of a bob sleigh and a roller coaster. A highlight of the event is on Saturday night when Santa Claus himself visits the children of Les Saisies.
A multi-activity pass, on sale for €5 at the entrance, gives access to all the activities. An onsite concession stand will propose traditional Nordic dishes for €10.
