Join Heber/Midway for a "Small Town Christmas" where there will be dancing, train rides to the "North Pole," snowshoeing under a full moon, ice skating under the stars, pictures with Santa Claus, a snowman building contest, and much more.  The Snowman Building Contest, Dec. 13 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Heber City Park, awards prizes in each age category but everyone 'wins' hot chocolate and donuts. The Seasons of Home Christmas Quilt Exhibit will take place Dec. 15-17 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Dec. 18-22 until 7 p.m. Christmas quilts, tree skirts, wall hangings, table runners, souvenir santas, cookies and hot chocolate are all on sale. Experience Swissmas at Zermatt Resort in Midway, Dec. 19 -31. There will be jazz music during brunch, open house bakery, and roaming carolers.

Little Cottonwood Canyon resorts are set to party as well. The merriment at Snowbird begins Dec. 11 with eight days of Hanukkah, where guests are invited to candle lighting ceremonies each evening at 5 p.m. in the lobby of the Cliff Lodge through Dec. 19. Santa and Mrs. Claus will make their way to Snowbird Dec. 22 to pose for pictures between noon and 2 p.m.

The jolly couple will return Christmas Eve to ski down their favorite Snowbird runs and visit with guests from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Festivities continue later that evening with Snowbird's annual Christmas Eve Torchlight Parade. Spectators gather on the Plaza Deck to view the parade beginning at 6 p.m. The fireworks display along with a special appearance from Santa as he rappels out of the Tram wraps up the parade. Afterwards, guests can gather in the Snowbird Center to warm up with light refreshments and participate in a brief interfaith sermon with traditional candle lighting and holiday songs.

Holiday events are free to the public and intended for guests of all ages. The resort is offering special on-mountain lodging packages throughout December starting at $99 per night for families interested in staying at Snowbird.

While Snowbird hosts the majority of festivities, Alta will hold a local artists' Holiday Art Sale, Dec.13 at Goldminers Daughter Art Gallery from noon to 4 p.m.

Santa will be at Solitude Mountain Resort Dec. 25. The Grinch visited a few years ago during the filming of the movie starring Jim Carrey. Now Santa makes certain that Solitude is a regular stop on this big day.

Christmas Eve activities are also planned at Snowbasin Resort. Sitdown dinner will be served in Earl's Lodge from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Festivities will include Santa's arrival by sleigh at 6 p.m., followed by a torchlight parade and firework display.
