Calabogie Peaks, eastern Ontario's biggest ski resort, is offering a couple of attractive lift and lodging specials through the holidays.
The Escape the Holiday Crazies package, available Dec. 20-23, is $199 CA ($187.29 US) per couple. It includes a night's lodging, dinner in the find dinning Canthooks Restaurant, complimentary ice skating, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, 20 percent off lift tickets, and use of the outdoor hot tub, indoor swimming pool, and fitness center.
The Celebrate the Holidays at the Peaks package, available Dec. 24-26, is $399 CA ($375.53 US) per couple. It includes two nights' lodging; dinner for two both nights in Canthooks Restaurant (with a classic family-style holiday dinner Dec. 25); complimentary ice skating and snowshoeing; 2-for-1 lift tickets on Boxing Day; and use of the salt water pool, outside hot tub, and hiking trails.
Calabogie, with a 760-foot vertical drop, offers Ottawa skiers and riders a nice choice close to home. It has 22 runs and two terrain parks. Long cruisers and a fistful of black-diamond runs take up the middle of the ski area. Long green avenues fan out on the right side of the ski hill giving novice skiers and riders plenty of room to maneuver and practice. The area's longest trail is about a mile-and-a-quarter long. The mountain will be closed for skiing and riding Dec. 25. Snowshoeing and cross-country trails will be open.
