Crystal Mountain, one of the Heartland's top family resorts, is getting ready to celebrate the holidays with lots of activities and holiday lodging specials.

Crystal, recently named one of the top 10 family winter resorts in the entire nation by Parents magazine, offers 45 slopes with 27 lit for night skiing seven days a week, nine lifts including a high-speed quad and carpet tows for beginners, two terrain parks including a halfpipe, and over 40 kilometers of groomed cross-country trails with 3 kilometers lit for night skiing.  There's something for all family members.

Five people can ski or ride for $50; just $10 per person Friday, Dec. 18. Later that night, starting around 6 p.m., the Holiday Trim-A-Tree Party takes place.  Make an ornament for the tree lighting parade the follow night.  There will be cookie decorating, holiday music, and other treats.

Santa arrives Saturday and will set the time for the NASTAR course that day.  You may have to bring Donner and Blitzen out to beat him.  The old dude is fast.  Santa also will be on hand to lead the tree lighting parade, which begins about 5 p.m. There will be a bonfire, hot chocolate, and time to enjoy meeting Santa, after the ornaments are hung and set aglow.

Crystal is offering a couple of lodging specials over the Hanukkah and Christmas holidays.  Stay one night and get the second night free when arriving Dec. 12-17, or stay three nights and get the fourth night free when arriving Dec. 22-25.
